Over 2000 hot meals delivered to our partner schools’ most vulnerable families so far – volunteers needed

With your help, we have delivered 2160 meals to 540 vulnerable families in our local partner schools to date. Our programme has expanded weekly from an initial four schools to seven as of today. These include Chesterton, Christ Church, Falconbrook, Fulham, Goldfinch, Langford and Sulivan Primaries.

As you know, many families in our local area are continuing to struggle to buy food.  With schools set to partially reopen on 1st June, only a few children will be provided with lunch at school. Many of the most vulnerable families in our partner schools are not going outside for fear of the virus or because a family member or their child suffers from a severe medical condition. These families are finding it increasingly hard to put food on the table so the help we are providing is targeting a very real need. Our provision of a hot, nutritious family meal has helped alleviate some of this stress and worry.

With your help, and the fabulous support of our Emanuel staff food delivery volunteers, we will continue to provide meals each day to vulnerable families at our local partner schools after half-term. The hot meals have been brilliant and hugely appreciated. Moving forward though, we are planning to provide families with a meal-in-a-box which will give more flexibility than our current must-eat-on-the day delivery model.

Each meal-in-a-box will include a recipe card for dishes such as caponata pasta and chickpea curry, and the necessary ingredients including lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, fresh vegetables, pasta, rice and potatoes. In addition, we will provide fresh fruit and some of our catering department’s delicious cake.

Thanks to your amazing generosity, we have raised over £7000 so far for the meal delivery programme. If you are interested in supporting the scheme, please donate below.
