We have so far donated 15 laptops and tablets to Power to Connect – a campaign launched by Battersea Power Station and Wandsworth Council to combat digital poverty. Each will be repurposed into Chromebooks by a team of volunteers working at the Power to Connect hub and then distributed to our local schools.
Local schools are still desperate for laptops to give to children who are unable to get online to do their schoolwork. If you have an old laptop or tablet that you no longer use or need, even if it is old and very, very slow, as long as it turns on, we really want it!
So, how can you donate? If you have a laptop that can be repurposed (ideally with a power cable but it’s also fine without) you can either:
- Drop it off in a sealed bag at Emanuel; or
- Contact lisa.irwin@emanuel.org.uk and we will arrange to collect the laptop from you.
We will ensure that the laptops are delivered to the renovation hub and then on to the children who need them as soon as possible.
