John Burns Primary School have really enjoyed their time with us taking part in a variety of different sports on a Friday afternoon.

For the opening lesson, the primary school pupils used our gym facilities to test their endurance on the school rowing machines. During this activity, they learnt how to use their body to maximum effect to increase their speed and distance.

During the second session, they ventured out to the fives courts to put on the gloves to compete with one another under the instruction of our Lower Sixth students.

The third session saw the children divide into small groups to play football on our 5-a-side mini astro pitch. They developed their skills, learnt about the different positions on the pitch and finished with an exciting match.

The final session was an introduction to tag rugby. The pupils learnt about the team element of the game by passing the ball to make ground and also gain further awareness into the position to both move with the ball and then to defend.

We have very much enjoyed the first module with John Burns School and we now look to continue our programme for the next module with Shaftesbury Primary School.
