Tuesday 2nd July saw our annual visit to Battersea Park for our Sports Day.

Even though there was glorious sunshine, it was the performances on the track and field that really lit up the day. Among the 13 records, notable mentions should go to Harry Fraser’s giant leap to break the Year 8 long jump record that had stood since 2006, Tara Bartlett’s 100m run that broke a record of similar age, and Georgie Clarke, who complete a clean sweep of 1,500m records in all age groups whilst casually taking 13 seconds off the Year 10 800m records.  Individual prizes were awarded to Tara Bartlett and Edward Newton for their commitment to athletics, quality of performances and points scored.

It was quite incredible after a day of competition where nearly 600 pupils took part. The final results came down to such narrow margins that a 1% swing would have changed the result. Howe and Clyde were victorious, with captains Georgie Clarke and Edward Newton receiving the trophy.
