It gave me great pleasure to announce the recipient of the ‘Dick Woodall Cup’ at this year’s Rugby Awards Evening which took place on Monday 13th December 2021.

The trophy is awarded to the player who best demonstrates and upholds the values of the school and the core values of the game.

The recipient, Luke, made his 1st XV debut on the 9th of October 2019, in a defeat to Wimbledon College in the Schools Cup. He has since gone on to make fifteen 1st XV appearances for the school, taking on the role of captain for a large part of the 2021 season in the absence of Henry. Luke’s senior rugby journey came full circle when he pulled on the ‘Blue & Gold’ for the last time on Saturday 11th December, playing an integral part in the 19-13 1st XV victory over Wimbledon College some two years later.

Luke joined the school in the Hill Form in September of 2015 and has consistently excelled at ‘A Team’ level, his performances at School and Club have seen him receive wider recognition and representative honours at London Irish in their Academy Pathway and for Middlesex County Rugby across their junior and senior age-groups. I would like to take this time to thank Luke for his service and dedication to Emanuel School Rugby Union and wish him the very best for the future.
