Tycoon is a young enterprise competition (supported by Peter Jones of Dragon’s Den fame). With only 10 days to go until the competition window closes all three Year 8 teams are continuing to sell, sell, sell and are already making considerable profits.

Attracted by their business plans and online footprints, the Tycoon marketing team came to interview our Year 8 teams this week and said how impressed they were with their positive attitude, business acumen and the healthy competition between the teams. All three teams have generously offered to donate all of their profits to charity. Their sales were as follows:

  • Capable Cords (handmade bracelets and keyrings): total sales of £422.69 (including a whopping £290 at the King’s College School Wimbledon Xmas Fair) and a profit of £282
  • Team Eco (eco-friendly washing products): total sales of £649 and a profit of £269
  • 2Dye4 (handmade tie-die t-Shirts): total sales of £386 and a small operating loss of £55 (but with at least £150 of sales made and not yet counted and almost 100 shirts in stock)

The trading window closes on the last Friday of term and the teams will be selling at school during the final week outside the Hampden Hall. If you are looking for any last minute Christmas gifts they could be selling just what you are looking for!

With only two teams (out of over 100 schools who have entered) making it through to the final judging round, competition is very stiff, but they will most certainly have given the competition their best shot, and our fingers are firmly crossed!
