Daisy P. (Captain) and Martha G. W. (Year 9) started the innings off to a brisk start against a strong Alleyn’s side. Ruby A. helped push the score onto 60-1 just after the halfway stage, with a big score on the cards.
Alleyn’s showed their class and fought back to restrict Emanuel to 86 off their 20 overs, leaving a slightly under par total for Alleyn’s to progress to the next round.
The girls bowled and fielded brilliantly, but Alleyn’s crept ever closer to the score.
Zara C. (Year 9), Flora R. , Aoife T., Daisy P. and Eliza B. all bowled well to take the game down the final four overs. Needing 3 runs from 4 Overs with 6 wickets the Emanuel girls turned it all around In an instant.
Eliza B. (Year 9) bowled the last over with 1 run required to win the game and with some excellent fielding (3 run outs) Emanuel managed to keep the game going right down the last ball.
The scores were tied for the last ball and Ruby R. A. who was on great form behind the stumps, threw down the stumps to run out the last batter by the tightest of margins. Emanuel progressed via losing few wickets when they batted as the scores were tied.
A fantastic game played by both sides, Alleyn’s will continue to be a great fixture for our girls in coming years and we look forward to the challenge.
Girls cricket at the time of writing are unbeaten in all age groups, while also progressing in all the surrey cup and national cups. The u13s defeated Harrodian, the 14s progressed past Wimbledon High, u15s moved into the next national cup round beating Putney High and the under 18s beat Brentwood in the National cup.
A great start to the summer for girls’ cricket, lets hope for some dry weather and sunshine to come.
