Congratulations to Vanessa (7WGD) who has been awarded a silver medal at the south London British Gymnastics competition.

Last weekend, more than 500 gymnasts from all major gymnastics clubs in South London competed in the British Gymnastics GfA Competition (London South) held at Crystal Palace Sports Centre. This is an annual event that is a preliminary competition, with each gymnast looking to secure their places for the regional finals in Redbridge this November. Each gymnast competes on floor and vault, and they are split into individual age categories by various ability levels (levels 3-6). The top six gymnasts in their respective groups qualify for the regional finals.

Vanessa is part of the newly formed Battersea Gymnastics Club and was part of a team of eight gymnasts representing the club in this competition. All gymnasts performed very well on the floor and vault to receive their pin and move on to the next competing level.  Six gymnasts also qualified for the regionals.

Vanessa competed as a level 3 gymnast in her age group. With a beautiful floor routine and a clean jump at the vault, she achieved the second highest score in the overall group ranking, winning a silver medal and securing her place in the regional finals.
