On Thursday 17th October the Art department was delighted to welcome Ian Kiaer, Professor of Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University and Fellow of Brasenose College.

Ian joined us for an afternoon portfolio scrutiny session with our Upper Sixth Art students who were also joined by students from The Grey Coat Hospital. He looked through the students’ portfolios, giving helpful feedback and suggestions for the artists to look at and techniques to try out.

Following the portfolio ‘crit’ Ian spoke to a larger group of our Sixth Form students as well as visiting students from the Grey Coat Hospital, Westminster City School and Bolingbroke Academy. He discussed the study of art at The Ruskin, gave insights into life at the University of Oxford and explained the format of a collegiate university. Ian’s talk was followed by a longer Q&A session and opportunity to ask further questions during tea.

Many thanks to Ian for sparing the time to come and visit us for what was a very interesting and enjoyable afternoon.
