“Emanuel meant that I was able to mature in a larger environment with more opportunities to discover new passions and explore my love for music.
Emanuel allowed me to excel at subjects with excellent support from teachers and to visit places that I never would have been able to go. During Covid, Emanuel enabled me to continue learning by providing a computer, a desk chair and Wi-Fi support. This meant that I was not disadvantaged compared to my peers during my GCSEs.
I was in the choir, orchestra and senior string ensemble at Emanuel. I completed grade 4 and 5 singing as well as reaching a grade 8 level in violin and piano with the help of Emanuel funding for my lessons. Moreover, I got a taster in the saxophone which allowed me to round out my musical capabilities.
Emanuel has enabled me to have more faith in my future and believe that I can become successful. Most recently, through careers advice, I was encouraged to apply for a law internship with Comcast’s law team, a media company based in Philadelphia. The help I received from the school in not only applying but encouraging me to believe that I could get the place was inspirational.
My bursary has meant so much for my family and me in changing my future as well as my enjoyment of school and learning. I am very grateful and hope that more people will be able to experience this at Emanuel.”
