On 18th June, the senior hockey team played their most important and only game of the season against Ibstock Place. After last year’s nail-biting draw and loss on flicks, the Emanuel 1st XI were very motivated to win. Despite having a heavily reduced season with minimal training, the team, led by Year 13’s Lucia, Libby and Anna started strongly and earned a penalty corner in the first few minutes. After narrowly missing, they used this momentum to keep attacking and it wasn’t long before Lucia scored for Emanuel. They held out for the rest of the game with some superb defending as well as some great 1 on 1 opportunities at the other end. They went on to win the game 1-0.

Special mentions to all the leavers Lucia, Libby, Anna, Lucy, Zara, Emma and Lauren who have been key members of the 1st XI for the last 3 years. It is a shame we did not have a full season with this group as they would have been a force to be reckoned with. Also a big thank you to David Ayres for giving up his time and umpiring the game.
