We had a busy and bustling event in the Hampden Hall on Wednesday night when it was transformed for the flagship event of the Careers department.

Our Year 11 pupils and their parents were able to speak to visitors from a wide variety of industries including Finance, Medicine, Architecture, Urban Planning, Media and Broadcasting to name a few.

The exhibitors were largely made up of current parents and OEs willing to give up their evening to answer any questions our pupils have about their respective careers. We also had representatives from notable organisations including the RAF, the Army, the Royal Town Planning Institute and the NCS. This was an incredibly useful event for the Year 11 pupils currently thinking about their A level options, as well as trying to organise work experience for the summer term.

Many pupils valued the opportunity to meet with professionals following their one-to-one careers guidance meetings with external careers advisers over the past fortnight. At these meetings the pupils were given career path suggestions to explore as well as a detailed report about their aptitudes following the psychometric profiling session earlier in the term. The feedback from pupils about the convention has been amazingly positive and one of the exhibitors emailed the following morning to say: “We were very busy on the publishing stand and, as ever, I came away greatly energised by the pupils enthusiasm.”

A huge thank you to all those who support the work of the Careers department, and well done to our Year 11 pupils for making great use of the evening.

Miss Malik (Head of Careers)
