Road to Rosslyn Park
We are excited to begin our Rugby 7s programme this term with players given the opportunity to develop their skills over the coming weeks. Age group teams from year 7 upwards will play in the Surrey Tournaments during the second half of term, before the U14, U16 and U18 sides make a return to the Rosslyn Park National Sevens later in March!
Individual success in the Premiership Rugby Academy League
Upper Sixth Hal has very deservedly been selected to represent Harlequins U18s in the Premiership Rugby Academy League, starting both matches so far in January against other premiership academy sides.
Hal featured in a very wet and windy encounter with Gloucester RFC at Cobham RFC on Saturday 7th January where Harlequins ran away to a 41-14 victory before last weekend featuring, and scoring, in a thrilling game Vs Exeter Chiefs RFC where again the side came out victorious 31-7. We look forward to following Hal’s progress with Harlequins over the coming weekends against Bath, Bristol Bears and Saracens.
Highlights for the Exeter Chiefs game can be found here (You can’t miss our boy in the Pink scrum cap!)
We look forward to watching him continue to compete in the Southern Conference, where Harlequins will now travel away for a number of games, the first being against Bath Rugby this Saturday, before returning to Cobham RFC to face Saracens on Sunday 12th February where we hope to see Hal continuing in his pursuit of a senior academy position.
All games are live streamed through the Harlequins RFC Youtube and TikTok accounts so make sure to check our Twitter page (@EMS_Sport) for the link and team news as it becomes available!
LAMBS Nomination Success – Tom Reid and Ben Winnick
We recently nominated students to participate in the selection process for the Lambs Rugby program. This program is for students who’re in their last year who haven’t been afforded the opportunity to showcase their skills at a representational level so far. We are delighted to announce that Tom Reid (Scrum Half) and Ben Winnick (Hooker) were selected to represent the Southeast Lambs in the internal tournament versus the North and Southwest sides. They will put themselves forward for national selection with the aspiration to join the touring part at the end of the year.
A huge congratulations and good luck to both of the boys involved!
We are also delighted for Mr Leigh who has also recently started a new position with the Lambs as the Forwards Coach for the Southeast squad. We would like to extend our best wishes for him in this prestigious role.
Mr Ross ( Director of Rugby)
