Great success, with best ever top GCSE grades!
Many congratulations to our Year 11s, achieving exceptional results, with 41% of grades at level 9, our highest outcome in any examination year.
With the national picture showing a return to 2019 grading (see Ofqual’s letter from September 2022), the Emanuel % 9-8 tally (68%) saw an increase of more than 50% on our highest pre-pandemic results.
We are delighted to have seen a continued year-on-year growth at GCSE with some outstanding individual performances.
Key points:
- Over two-thirds of results were graded 9 or 8
- Nine pupils achieved perfect GCSE grades (each receiving ten grade 9s)
- Over half the year group managed a grade average of at least 8.0
- Excellence was achieved across the academic spectrum:
– Almost fifty pupils elected to take an additional Further Mathematics qualification (85% of whom received grades 9-7)
– Performance in the creative subjects demonstrated the breadth of talent in the year group (95% of Art, Design Technology, Drama and Music entries were graded 9-7) - Pupils achieved a superb ‘value-added’ of almost a grade for each result.
The headmaster has said, ‘…this hard-working and talented bunch of pupils ought to be incredibly proud of themselves and their achievements. A significant part of their time at senior school has been heavily impacted by the pandemic, and they have shown great personal and collective determination to gain such impressive GCSE outcomes. I know that all their teachers, form tutors and families will be thrilled for them. They should feel very confident and motivated as they start their A Levels in September. We continue to see a very bright future!’
