Emanuel’s three Tycoon teams have finished in the top 10 of 100 in this national competition, with Team Eco awarded the third most profitable team nationally.

Pupils in Year 8 take part in this young enterprise competition, which is supported by Peter Jones (of Dragon’s Den fame). The trading window finished at the end of last term, with the final results as follows:

  • Team Eco (eco-friendly washing products: Profit of £698.61
  • Capable Cords (handmade bracelets and keyrings): Profit of £586.29
  • 2Dye4 (handmade tie-die T-Shirts): Profit of £265.17

Between them the three teams have raised over £1,500 – an outstanding effort. All profits are going to the school’s bursary fund and other charities selected by the teams.

While profits are important, the overall winning team will be judged on a number of criteria including business idea, teamwork and marketing, so all three teams are very much still in the competition. As part of their entries each produced a short video which so impressed the Tycoon Team that they have been chosen as part of their promotional materials for next year’s competition. The prize is a visit to Buckingham Palace for a grand awards ceremony and £1,000 to invest in their business – so keep those fingers crossed!
