Last half term, we had 18 pupils from Year 10 to Upper Sixth participate in the UKMT Mathematical Olympiad for Girls. Seven of those were awarded with Merit and five were awarded Distinction. Congratulations to all who took part in this competitive event.

We also entered 100 students in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge. 52 students were awarded Bronze, 31 were awarded Silver and seven achieved Gold. Well done to all students who took part, with a special mention to Farhan, Thomas and Sam who were awarded Best In Year, and Lucy who was awarded Best In School.

These exceptional results across both challenges have meant we have a record 11 students participating in the British Mathematical Olympiad, round 1. As well as challenging high-scorers from the Senior Mathematical Challenge and Mathematical Olympiad for Girls, the British Mathematical Olympiad is an entry point to the training and selection programme for international competitions. Additionally, 10 students will be participating in the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo which follows on from the Senior Mathematical Challenge. Good luck to all our mathematicians as they face these challenges head-on this week!
